The Client

We are currently looking for water treatment engineers for our North-West based client who have been established for 27 years and are therefore a leading force in their industry sector. They offer HVAC, commissioning & water treatment services within a vast range of sectors including NHS, private healthcare, operating theatres, education, pharmaceuticals, retail, manufacturing, commercial and residential buildings and you will be required to travel around the UK for this role.

The Role and its Responsibilities

For this role your core business activities are maintenance, survey, testing and treatment of commercial and domestic water systems including chlorination, pre-commissioning chemical cleaning and legionella risk assessments.

  • Working in strict accordance with BSRIA, ACoP L8 and HSG 274 guidelines
  • Conduct monitoring inspections which will involve temperature testing of water outlets (TMVs)
  • External mains chlorination compliant with local water authorities
  • Carry out pre cleans on chilled and heating closed water systems and flush and chemical dose them.
  • Take system volume calculations and dosing
  • To carry out chlorination of domestic services via CWST and injection points
  • Take water samples for UKAS accredited labs
  • To carry out showerhead disinfections
  • Responsible for self-based delivery of a range of water hygiene related services in accordance with current legislation
  • A good working knowledge of closed systems and hot and cold water systems is essential
  • To compile and submit comprehensive water treatment reports
  • Provide on the job training to assistants and junior engineers
  • To ensure understanding and compliance with (site) health & safety requirements
  • Ensure the safe custody and use of instruments & equipment, arrange repairs and recalibrations when necessary

The Individual

  • Minimum 2 years’ pre commission chemical cleaning experience
  • Ability to correctly and competently utilise test instruments and equipment
  • Ability to read and work to mechanical drawings
  • Competent at written communication – internally and externally
  • Basic understanding of contractual requirements
  • Ability to manage own time across a range of water treatment and reporting activities
  • Liaise and develop working relationships both with the customer and other employees within the company
  • To support overall delivery of company goals and schedule
  • Represent and promote the business in a professional manner

Skills and Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of ACoP L8 and HSG 274 codes
  • Working in strict accordance with BSRIA guidelines
  • Good knowledge of the principles of water treatment
  • Basic understanding of water systems and their operation

Salary and Package

£33000/annum + good OT rates, van, phone, laptop
