The Client
We are currently recruiting for a Utilities Contracts Manager who will be based in North Manchester. Our client provide M&E utility infrastructures and work alongside Tier 1 contractors throughout the UK on these projects. They offer Project Management, Civils Engineering, Heating, Multi-Utility Installations and testing and commissioning, to name just a few of their services!
The Role and its Responsibilities
Supervision of gangs including the following:
- Management of training requirements.
- Control of van inventory (stock plant/consumables/small tools/materials).
- Ensuring correct PPE and presentability.
- Ensuring record information is being completed i.e., line/level sheets, photos, health and safety documentation.
Management of multi-utility projects / civil installations including the following:
- Procurement of materials and allocation of labour.
- Production of risk assessments and method statements specific to each project.
- Arranging plant requirements.
- Ensuring all health and safety obligations are being met.
- Cognisance of commercial targets for the project and ensuring these are met operationally.
- Liaison with clients including attending meetings.
- Arranging internal meetings to review progress of projects.
- Understanding of our role under the contract i.e. strong understanding of the scope of works, specification, attendances etc.
- Productivity of labour force.
- Production of as built and record information.
- Toolbox talks.
- Recording and communicating any changes to the contract.
Pre-construction involvement including the following:
- Liaison with estimating team where required.
Commercial involvement including the following:
- Attendance and input into internal and external commercial/financial meetings
- Liaison with commercial team to ensure any changes or risks to the contract are being communicated and recorded effectively.
The Individual
Our client is looking for candidates with a technical experience of gas, water and civils and a working knowledge of HV/LV installation would be preferred. You should be able to display the capability to manage multiple projects for multiple clients and have good problem solving, organisational and communication skills. There will be training provided for other relevant software packages the company uses and you should be willing to travel and work away from home.
Skills and Qualifications
- Technical certification to validate experience
- Computer literacy to include a working knowledge of MS word and MS excel
- DBS approval, or ability to gain this
- Driving license
Salary and Package
The company is offering a competitive salary up to £45K with a company car and optional pension.
