Senior Quantity Surveyor role, Bicester area. 

Mech Electrics are seeking a skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our clients’ team for an exciting £100M project with a duration of 2 years’. The MEP value is circa £30M and you will be working on a new house block and workshop on a significant construction project. The successful candidate will run the Quantity Surveying team under the guidance of the Commercial Director and will ensure the works are completed within budget, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects based on specifications and project scope. Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial constraints.
Tendering and Procurement: Manage the tendering process, including the preparation of tender documents, analysis of bids, and negotiation with contractors and suppliers. Implement procurement strategies to optimize costs while maintaining quality standards.
Contract Administration: Administer construction contracts, including the review and negotiation of contract terms, preparation of contract variations, and resolution of contractual disputes. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and relevant regulations.
Quantity Take off and Measurement: Conduct accurate quantity take offs and measurements of materials, labour, and equipment required for construction projects. Utilize appropriate software tools and methodologies to streamline the process and minimize errors.
Cost Control and Monitoring: Monitor project costs throughout the construction lifecycle, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as necessary. Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts to keep stakeholders informed of project financial status.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and opportunities that may impact project costs and timelines. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize potential impacts on project finances and schedules.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess workmanship quality and identify areas for improvement.
Team Leadership and Mentoring: Provide leadership and guidance to junior quantity surveyors and other project team members. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing within the team.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to quantity surveying. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in project delivery.

Requirements:

Previous experience ideal but not essential; Contract type NEC option 4. The client is looking for a confident candidate who can step into the NEC contract and pick it up quickly!
Strong understanding of processes, techniques, and materials.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and make decisions confidently.
Flexibility to work on-site as needed, with the possibility of a hybrid working arrangement, a minimum 3 days on site will be required.
Local candidates preferred, but willing to consider candidates from outside the area and lodge and travel will be paid for the right candidate.
Degree qualified in relevant field.
