The Client

Our client is a leading global contractor in the building services market and deliver projects throughout the UK for their clients. They require a Mechanical Project Engineer for  prestigious mixed use development in London.

The Role and its Responsibilities

You must display proficiency and confidence in the following areas:

  • Support of all technical aspects of the mechanical installation
  • Interpretation and adaptation of designs
  • Ensure a good working relationship alongside the Electrical Project Engineer 
  • Reporting to the Project Manager on works
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in a safe and well controlled environment. 
  • Regular attendance of meetings with the client 
  • Keep the ongoing project to cost and time allocation and understand the budget of the project at any given time
  • Management of the sub-contractors 

The project comprises several buildings, your role will be the daily control of one of the buildings. You will report to a Mechanical Project Manager, reporting delivery of the project and how it is progressing. You will be heavily involved with the engineering of the project and come up with a scope of works to get the project delivered on time and to cost. It is essential you have a built environment background and have previously worked on building services projects. 

The site is full mechanical services, risers, dry risers, fan coil units, gas, heating, cooling, ventilation. All major plant is centralised and your building will come onto the site wide network. Having previous experience in this environment is essential. You will have a number of Supervisors to manage, who will in turn manage the labour and the progression of the project. 

The Individual

Previous Building Services experience is essential. To have a working knowledge of mechanical services is the main criteria for the position. The project is going live at the time of writing this job specification(!), someone with a track record in the built environment is key to being successful on site. 

Skills and Qualifications

HNC/HND qualified
Mechanical Apprentice (Pipefitter / Welder, built environment). 
5 years experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer

Salary and Package

This role offers a £50,000 – 63,000 salary, company car or allowance and the position could come with a disturbance allowance if you are happy to travel and lodge for the project's duration.
