Position: Mechanical Estimator

Location: Near Blackpool

Salary: £52,000 – £55,000 per annum, plus benefits and car allowance

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our client’s team near the Blackpool area. In this role, you will work with a dynamic M&E Contractor who already turn over £20 million p.a. and are on the brink of further expansion. You will play a crucial part in their project planning and execution process by providing accurate cost estimates for mechanical construction projects. Your expertise will ensure that they can deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Already working with many blue-chip companies, they benefit from repeat business and have many more prospects pending.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimation: Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates for various construction projects, including commercial, industrial, and residential.
Analysis: Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documentation to determine the scope of work and materials required.ost Breakdown: Develop comprehensive cost breakdowns, considering labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and pricing for materials and services.
Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit competitive and well-documented bids and proposals to potential clients.
Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose value engineering solutions to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards.
Risk Assessment: Evaluate potential risks and uncertainties associated with the project and incorporate risk factors into the estimation process.
Cost Tracking: Monitor project costs during execution to ensure adherence to the estimated budget.
Communication: Effectively communicate with the project management team, clients, and other stakeholders to clarify estimation details and address any questions or concerns.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the building services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating.
