The Client

We are recruiting for a company who provides high quality bespoke protection doors to their international customers. Their security provisions are highly graded and are used within the fields of nuclear, defence, security and on highly sensitive projects and they require a Mechanical Design Engineer for their Bolton based offices. You will be producing the mechanical design on drawings and Design for Manufacture to meet the customers specification whilst keeping in line with the companies procedures. 

The Role and its Responsibilities

• Mechanical designs
• Ensure that designs can be met by manufacturing capabilities
• Supplier knowledge
• Capability to adhere to company engineering procedures 
• Liaising with teams/team leaders
• Proficient in modelling and drawing standards
• Structural and mechanical calculations
• Production of 2D drawings and 3D models for clients
• Produce BOM's
• Completion of timesheets, sickness, leave and absence 
• Self-check GA's and 3D models 
• Assist with R&D activities if required
• Attend review meetings
• Report writing

The Individual

The company is looking for a flexible candidate who is willing to do overtime when required and who can confidently liaise with customers, whilst maintaining company values. 

Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum HND in Engineering plus 5 years' engineering experience with industrial sheet/steel fabrications
• or
• Minimum BEng Hons in Engineering (preferably mechanical), plus 3 years' engineering experience in sheet/steel fabrications
• Autodesk 3D Inventor, 2 AutoCAD and Autodesk Vault experience
• Ansys FEA software, desirable
• Ability to program templates using iLogic/ Visual Basic is desirable.
• Generation of hand and software-based calculations.
• Understanding of steel plate manufacturing principals and constraints, including laser cutting, weld limitations and press machinery. 

Salary and Package

£28-34K dependant on experience
