The Client

Our client, a successful Midlands-based M&E Contractor, is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to head up their commercial team. The company provide integrated building services and standalone mechanical or electrical services from inception through to project completion. Their service includes design – they are highly experienced in the use of BIM and CAD technology – installation, and commissioning of all the building services necessary to provide the end user with sustainable and efficient buildings. They have extensive experience in delivering M&E projects within diverse sectors including health and education and have a very healthy order book with many projects in the pipeline! 

The Role and its Responsibilities

Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for all commercial & contractual functions that their role dictates and they will be required to assist in the development and implementation of overall strategy, growth and profitability.

  • You will be required to minimise risk and maximise operational performance of contracts
  • You will be required to commercially review bids and assist in finalising conditions of contract for new work
  • To provide accurate and timely commercial information
  • To provide support to the Operation’s team for more complex negotiations and dispute/claim resolutions
  • Input into Management Reports and attend board meetings
  • To prepare and or provide advice on the preparation of variations to contract
  • Monitor and maintain commercial team performance
  • Attend and contribute to internal meetings as required

The Individual

A preferred candidate should possess strong commercial negotiation skills and have experience of managing and leading a team to achieve multiple objectives. You will be experienced in the delivery of complex projects; ideally for a Mechanical and Electrical contractor. Effective teamwork and leadership skills and excellent influencing and negotiation skills will be essential. You will also bring to the role a business and strategy awareness and a proven record of achieving results.

Skills and Qualifications

You should ideally be degree-qualified (i.e. Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management) and have demonstrable experience of dealing with multiple clients, forms of contract and methods of measurement.

Salary and Package

£60000 – £65000/annum plus car allowance, pension etc.
