The Client

A market leader at the forefront of delivering centralised efficient low carbon energy solutions across public/ private residential, retail and commercial sectors throughout the UK. They operate in a rapidly expanding vibrant market for Heat and Power solutions, and offer the full capability of design, install, operate, maintain and bespoke environmentally friendly energy generation; and distribution systems.

We have partnered with this client since 2008 and have help deliver recruitment solutions throughout the business.

They are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to a growing Commercial Department.

The Role and its Responsibilities

This role would suit a commercial or financial graduate, or a part qualified quantity surveyor looking for an opportunity to progress their career at a fast pace and work towards becoming a Quantity Surveyor.

  • You will provide commercial assistance to a team of experienced Quantity Surveyors on projects spread nationally across the UK.
  • You will have responsibility for procurement, preparing and issuing enquiries for major plant, equipment and sub-contract packages. Evaluating the tenders and working with the design and engineering teams to select the right supply chain partner for the project. Assisting the team in preparing purchase orders and sub-contract orders.
  • Sub contract accounts. Aiding in valuing/ submitting the sub-contractor monthly valuations and final accounts; including preparing and issue of contractual notices to sub-contractors
  • Commercial Reports. Assisting with the production of the monthly commercial reports to manage the financial performance of all live projects; this will include the review the preliminaries forecasts and forecast cost to complete of all supplier and sub-contract accounts.
  • Valuing Variations / Change Management. Together with the project team the role will include measuring, submitting and agreeing variations with our clients to maximise the financial position on projects.

The Individual

Appropriate financial qualification or equivalent experience, preferably 2 years’ + experience in a commercial, finance or cost management function.
