The Client

Our multi award winning client provides design, install and maintenance of sustainable energy systems to many diverse public and private businesses. We have partnered with this business for over a decade and understand the type of candidate that they are looking to recruit. Our client has a strong outlook of live projects and they are looking to recruit a Mechanical Project Manager to be based in the South West. 

The Roles and its Responsibilities

As Mechanical Project Manager you will be responsible for managing the project from site set up to hand over. You will have a direct report to the Operations Manager, who will visit site once a fortnight to review the programme of works and site with the site wide team to discuss the project and it's progression.

  • Overall project management
  • Regular client liaison
  • Organisation of site deliveries
  • Assisting planners to ensure materials and contractors are being implemented at correct times
  • Management of sub-contractors, to include construction
  • Working with the design, project, planning  and commercial teams
  • Contract Management 
  • Chairing meetings 
  • Understanding site progression through communication with engineering teams

The Individual

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who has worked on decentralised energy, building service projects or district heating projects and has worked their way up from Project Engineer to Manager. Ideally you will have worked with large mechanical systems, CHP, waste to energy etc. The project itself is working on a hospital project, with a value in excess of £11M. The client has asked to see CV's of people who have worked on major and complex projects. You will have a team of engineers and supervisors to manage and having experience of running a large project and team is essential to the role. 

Ideally you will have worked in a client facing role. You are the Principal Contractor on site and will regularly chair meetings with the Hospital Trust and sub contractors who are appointed on site. You will be the contact for design, commercial and buying, along with being involved with the engineering team constantly. 

Skills and Qualifications

  • HNC/HND in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering
  • Degree in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering
  • CSCS card
  • Driving Licence

Salary and Package

Up to £60,000 per annum and a company car, or car allowance of £7500, plus pension scheme and healthcare.
